Kayla Martell, Miss Newark 2009 to Speak at this year's event

We are so happy to have Kayla Martell, Miss Newark 2009 join us again at this year's event. Kayla is an inspiring and extremely talented young woma who has had Alopecia Areata since the age of ten. She created Caps 4 YAPs, an initiative to help young children with Alopecia, and their families deal with the emotional, physical and financial effects of having hair loss. She began competing in pageants in 2003 and placed 4th runner-up to Miss Delaware 2006 without wearing a wig. Kayla promotes Alopecia Areata as her platform and visits schools and youth groups to show others that "bald is beautiful!" with her title, Miss Newark 2009.
In June, Kayla spoke at the NAAF conference about her experiences as a role model for others, but she also spoke about how young girls with Alopecia have inspired her. What has been most important to Kayla, is to remember that people will not believe you are beautiful, until YOU do. Kayla shares with young women that you CAN be a beauty queen- with or without hair!
We Love You Kayla!
